Best Areas for US Food in Hiroshima

Hiroshima Station Area

Hiroshima Station is the main transit hub and has fast food, konbini, and the Asse department store attached. Multiple US chain options are within a short walk of the station — the highest concentration in the city. If you arrive by shinkansen, Hiroshima Station is an easy first stop.

Hondori Shopping Arcade

Hondori is Hiroshima's main covered shopping street, running east from Kamiya-cho through the city center. This is where you'll find McDonald's, Starbucks, and the densest restaurant cluster in the city. Most travelers pass through Hondori on the way between the station and the Peace Memorial area.

Kamiya-cho / Hatchobori

The Kamiya-cho and Hatchobori tram stops mark the commercial heart of central Hiroshima, just east of the Peace Memorial Park. Starbucks and other options are here. It's the closest US food cluster to the Peace Memorial Park — roughly a 10-minute walk.

Food Context for Hiroshima

Hiroshima is famous for its distinctive style of okonomiyaki — layered (not mixed) with noodles, cabbage, egg, and pork belly, cooked on a flat iron griddle. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is genuinely different from the Osaka version and is worth trying at one of the many okonomiyaki restaurants in the city, particularly in the Okonomi-mura building (three floors of okonomiyaki counters). US chains are an easy fallback, but this is one Japanese city where the local food is particularly worth prioritizing.
